Project Abstract

Equipment type:

Plate Heat-Exchangers on diesel generators.

Reported issue/Problem:
Salt build up in S/W to F/W plate heat-exchangers on 2 Main Generators.

Requirement:

De-scale the S/W side of H-E on M/E (STB and PRT).

  • Note by Client:
  • Ferry must be in operation ASAP! Clean in place (CIP)!

Action taken:
  • A 4-hour CIP process on 2 M/G with 100% environmentally sound descaling liquids, and an own pumping systems, for maximum cleaning capacity.
  • The piping arrangements equipped with non-invasive quick connection for the seamless cleaning process.

Results and recommendations:

Subject generators could remain in Standby operation during the entire process. No downtime for the vessel’s Gen. sets.

Quick and efficient cleaning of all build-ups and sediments (incl. salt, limescale, shellfish and algae).

In four hours, two plate heat-exchangers on the M/G systems where cleaned while the ferry continued operations.
