Equipment type:

Preheating boiler 3 m3 on the steam production facility in a bakery.

Reported issue/Problem:

Scale and sediment build-ups in the boiler. Unable to obtain required temperature over required time.

Requirement:

De-scale the boiler within 8 hours of regular weekend stoppage.

Action taken:

• Required system preparation executed by client. System fitted with two 3-way valves for the ease of access. Two-way flushing before and after chemical circulation.
• Discoloration of liquids visible along with a certain amount of rust and particles visible during flushing process. Continuous pH-level monitoring.
• Note:
  Fully environmentally supportive and food-grade de-scaling liquids, and an own pumping system, were used.

Results and recommendations:

Quick and thorough cleaning of all build-ups and sediments. Job completed within required time.

The condenser is in a very good working condition overall and unless there would be issues with water contamination or high temperature differences in the future, there is no priority recommendation, nor a need to descale it on a more frequent than annual basis.
