Project Abstract
Equipment type:
Cooling system on EAF / Q-ONE.
Reported issue/Problem:
Dirt and sediment build-ups throughout the Q-ONE’s cooling system.
Requirement:
De-scale and de-grease the Q-ONE’s cooling system.
Note by Client:
Focus on critical points firstly. Cleaning must be completed
and system tested and put back into fully operational mode,
within the 15 days of winter overhaul break.
Action taken:
- A continuous 4-day CIP process on 4x 3-phase DRM cooling systems.
- Double two-way flushing before and after chemical circulation due to heavy sedimentation, greasiness and aggregate sludge.
- With continuous pH-level monitoring, the time from adding the chemicals to the strong discoloration could be observed, confirming the chemical reaction to scale and sediment build-ups, fast and effectively.
-
Note:
Fully environmentally supportive de-scaling and de-greasing liquids, and own pumping systems, for obtaining maximum cleaning capacity, were used.
Results and recommendations:
Efficient and thorough cleaning of all build-ups and sediments, and quick, considering the size of the underlying system.
The client was advised that the procedure carried out is to be strongly considered repeating within 6 to 8 months, depending on the behavior of system parameters like cooling pressure, temperatures and flow capacity, as a part of regular preventive maintenance.
